Ipswich have pulled out of signing Francis Jeffers due to the player's wage demands.
Ipswich Town have failed in their attempt to sign Francis Jeffers because they could not meet the player's wage demands.
The club had agreed a transfer fee for the Blackburn Rovers striker, but the move stalled because they could not agree personal terms with the 26-year-old.
Ipswich say they offered Jeffers, who had a successful loan spell with the club for the final two months of last season, a contract which exceed his wages at Ewood Park.
However, Jeffers, who scored four goals in seven league starts for Ipswich, is said to have turned the deal down and Ipswich are now pursuing a new transfer target.
"We made what we felt was a very lucrative offer to Franny and it was an offer that could exceed what he is earning at Blackburn," Ipswich chairman David Sheepshanks told the club's official website.
"But unfortunately, despite our extensive efforts, we have not been able to match what the player wants financially from the deal.
"We have a duty to protect the wage structure at this club and will not put that at risk.
"The offer we made to Franny was a very good one in line with his status.
"However, now we move on. The positive news is that I can confirm that was have now made an offer to another player."
