Town wait for Wright talks

Jim Magilton is waiting to hold 'serious' talks with Richard Wright about a return to Ipswich.

Jim Magilton is still waiting to hold 'serious' talks with Richard Wright about a return to Ipswich Town.

The goalkeeper is available on a free transfer after being released by Everton and is open to rejoining his first club.

Ipswich are also keen to strike a deal with Wright, but Town boss Magilton is having to play a waiting game.

"We have not seriously sat down with him, and it is early doors for some clubs with regards to next season," Magilton told the East Anglian Daily Times.

Magilton is still pursuing a deal for Blackburn Rovers striker Francis Jeffers, who impressed on loan at Portman Road last season.

The sale of Ipswich old boy Darren Bent by Charlton would give Magilton more clout in his bid to sign Jeffers and he accepts he will have to improved the club's current offer.

He added: "I am sure Blackburn are looking at our situation and sitting tight for the time being.

"We intend to get the quality we need - and this has to be paid for."
