Warnock anxious to beat Bayer

Stephen Warnock is determined to help Blackburn see off Bayer Leverkusen.

Blackburn defender Stephen Warnock is determined to help his side see off Bayer Leverkusen in the Uefa Cup.

Rovers go into Thursday's second leg at Ewood Park trailing 3-2 from the first leg in Germany.

Warnock is anxious to overcome the German side as he was at fault for Bayer's third goal and he was relieved to see Shabani Nonda net a late second goal for Blackburn in the first leg encounter.

"I was probably happier than anyone on the pitch when that goal (Nonda's goal) went in," said Warnock.

"I made a stupid mistake for the third goal. You feel as though you have let everyone down.

"You have personal pride as well and it was a gut-wrenching feeling.

"But that second goal gives us a massive chance on our own patch."
