Blackburn in Mido talks

Blackburn are still hoping to strike a deal for Egyptian striker Mido.

Blackburn are still hoping to strike a deal for Egyptian striker Mido.

Rovers have been pursuing the 23-year-old since his loan spell at Tottenham ended in May, but the drawn-out saga has still not been resolved.

However, Blackburn's sheer persistence could yet pay dividends, with chairman John Williams confirming that they were locked in talks.

"He is a player we are very interested in but we are still in talks with both Roma and his agent," said Williams.

Mido turned out to be a popular and successful figure at Tottenham but Martin Jol's attempts to keep him at White Hart Lane fell down.

He returned to Italy but Roma have declared that they would not stand in his way should he want a move elsewhere.

Blackburn are desperate to bring in a striker capable of replacing Craig Bellamy and will look to pull out all the stops to land their man.
