U's to monitor loan pair

Colchester United boss Phil Parkinson will look to bring back two loan players.

Colchester United manager Phil Parkinson has not ruled out bringing loan pair Ben May and Neil Danns back to Layer Road.

The pair have ended their loan spells with the League One club this week, with May returning to Championship side Millwall after 12 weeks with the Essex-based outfit.

Danns has returned to Premiership side Blackburn Rovers after two months with The U's, where he scored four goals from midfield for Colchester.

Rovers boss Mark Hughes has not had an opportunity to have a closer look at Danns.

Parkinson admitted he will be assessing both players' futures with their parent clubs to see if he can bring them back to Colchester at a later stage.

"We will monitor both players' situations once they have returned to their clubs in case there is an opportunity to bring them back at some point," Parkinson told the club's official website.

"I just feel Ben needs to go back to Millwall at this time to find out where he stands in terms of his long term future with the club.

"He has been a little unsettled recently and I don't think we have got the best out of him for one reason or another.

"Neil is going back because his new manager (Hughes) hasn't seen him play and he wants to show him what he can do."
