ROVERS KEEN ON KUQI

BLACKBURN ROVERS are keen on signing Stockport County's Finnish striker Shefki Kuqi.

The Ewood Park outfit have already contacted The Hatters and declared their interest in the giant forward.

Rovers boss Graeme Souness is keen to bolster his squad as he tries to consolidate their encouraging return to The Premiership.

Souness is a big admirer of the Finnish international after he caused his side a lot of trouble in their meeting last season at Edgeley Park and he could be set to make an offer in the region of £500,000 for the player.

"There has been some dialogue between us and Stockport during the last week or so," said Rovers chief executive John Williams.

The former FC Jokerit ace has impressed this season in a struggling side grabbing five goals and he has established himself as one of their key players since joining them last January.

Stockport would like to keep him, but Kuqi is expected to jump at the chance to swap the bottom of the First Division for the upper reaches of The Premiership.
