England captain Wayne Rooney is thrilled to be playing up front with Harry Kane in Tuesday's friendly in Italy.
Roy Hodgson confirmed at his pre-match media conference that Kane would make his first England start in Turin after a goalscoring debut less than 80 seconds after his introduction from the bench against Lithuania last Friday.
Rooney has been impressed with the Tottenham striker’s form which has seen him score 30 goals this season.
Speaking in Italy at England's press conference alongside manager Roy Hodgson, Rooney said: "I think it's exciting for English football that Harry's come into the Premier League at Tottenham and been fantastic.
"Hopefully he continues that form with England, it’s a big night for him, his first start and I’m sure he’s excited and will try and do his best.
"I am excited to play with him, hopefully we can do well to try and help the team win."
Rooney is two goals short of Sir Bobby Charlton's national scoring record of 49 and ahead of the game against the Azzurri, who beat England 2-1 at last year's World Cup, the striker insists his side are not dwelling on that defeat.
"We have to move on from World Cup, our aim is to reach the Euros," he added.
"Tomorrow will be a good test and we are looking forward to it."
Manchester United striker Rooney admitted he was a fan of Italian football growing up, in particular Argentina legend Gabriel Batistuta, but ruled out plying his trade in Serie A.
"I love playing in the Premier League. I used to watch Batistuta for Fiorentina but don't think I'd play in Italy," he added.
