Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was delighted with his side's display as they romped to a 4-0 victory against Newcastle to reach the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup.
The north Londoners booked a two-legged date against Sheffield United as goals from Nabil Bentaleb, Nacer Chadli, Harry Kane and Roberto Soldado obliterated their opponents.
Pochettino now feels that he is starting to make his mark at the club where he was appointed as manager in May.
"We need time to improve and stamp our philosophy," he told Sky Sports. "The players need time to change this mentality, but we are playing the right way.
"This competition is important for us and now we're through to the semi-final although we will be playing a very tough team in Sheffield (United).
"Last night they showed their quality (in beating Southampton). We will face Sheffield and try to play well over the two games."
When the sides last met at White Hart lane in the Premier League it was Sammy Ameobi's goal moments after the restart was the catalyst to Newcastle's win, whereas this time it was the hosts celebrating when Nacer Chadli's low strike crept home 34 seconds into the second half.
And Nabil Bentaleb admitted that Spurs were desperate not to allow lightning to strike twice, saying: "We came out in the second half like it was nil-nil. The manager said we wanted a quick start and that's what we did."
