Manager Mauricio Pochettino says he wants to settle at Tottenham for a long time and build a legacy like that of Arsene Wenger’s at Arsenal.

Pochettino, 42, will get his first taste of a north London derby at the Emirates on Saturday, live on Sky Sports 1HD, and he comes up against a man who has endured 46 Premier League games between the two bitter rivals.

Argentinian Pochettino insists he has a lot respect for Wenger – the longest serving top-flight manager by some distance – but is intent on beating him in their first clash as local enemies.

"We have a good relationship. I have full respect for him; he is a great manager. An 18-year stay in charge is not easy and it's a big gap compared with me at Tottenham,” Pochettino said.

"Tottenham for me is a big job. It's a dream to be here and would be to have the time Arsene has had at Arsenal. For this I need to show my skill, work hard and get the results.

"In football you never know, you need to work with the passion that you have. We are positive in our job and in our players' skill, and we want to go as far as possible."

Pochettino is also likely to come up against Calum Chambers, whom he groomed to prominence at Southampton last season before the defender joined Arsenal in the summer.

"Calum is a great personality and has a great talent. He deserves his moment now because one year ago, at the start of pre-season at Southampton, he was playing in the development squad,” Pochettino said.

“Step by step by he deserved to play and win his place in the first team. It is not only because he has talent he also has a great personality and character."

Arsenal v Tottenham is live on Sky Sports 1HD from 4.45pm on Saturday.
