On-loan defender admits he wants Swansea to win on Saturday

Steven Caulker admits he wants Swansea to beat his parent club Tottenham when the two clubs meet in the Premier League on New Year's Eve. The 20-year-old is on loan at the Welsh outfit until the end of the season but cannot play in the meeting at the Liberty Stadium. He has been part of a resolute Swansea defence this season and has helped keep four clean sheets in his eight appearances. It will be the first meeting between the two sides since 1983 and Brendan Rogers' side could move into the top half of the table with a win. Their success this season is mainly due to their impressive home form, with only Manchester United able to win in South Wales this term. But Caulker, who has been with Spurs since 2007, insists his priority is avoiding relegation with his current club.

Difficult

He said: "My aim is to keep Swansea in the Premier League but obviously I have been at Spurs for the last four or five years, so it's a difficult one. "But I'm hoping for three points for Swansea. Spurs are a fantastic team with great depth in their squad and there is no reason why they can't go on and push for the title. "It's a tough one for me because, if they do go on and win the title, I'm sure they will be looking to bring in new players. "It's a catch-22 but I wish the boys all the best and hope they do as well as possible."
