Southampton have signed Tottenham youngster Phil Ifil on a three-month loan deal.

Southampton have used the emergency loan window to sign Tottenham youngster Phil Ifil on a three-month deal.
The defender will join up with George Burley's squad for the game at Sheffield United on Saturday and is set to stay with the Saints until the end of the calendar year.
Burley believes Ifil, who has appeared four times for Spurs and has had two spells on loan at Millwall, has a lot of potential.
"We have watched him a few times and I am delighted to be able to bring him in," he said on the club's official website.

"Phil is a young defender with a lot of potential and he wants first-team football. It is a good chance to bring in a promising Premiership player and assess him."
Ifil made his Spurs debut in 2004 against Liverpool and will be looking to use the loan spell to gain first-team experience before returning to Martin Jol's side.
