Southgate confirms interest

Middlesbrough have confirmed their interest in signing Tottenham striker Mido. Sunderland and Birmingham have already confirmed their interest in the Egyptian striker - who is surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane. Fulham have also been linked and now Boro have revealed they are interested in taking him to The Riverside. The 24-year-old is now set to talks terms with Mido and manager Gareth Southgate will hope to persuade him to move to Teesside.

Wanted

"Yes we have made our interest in Mido known to Tottenham," said Southgate. "Now we are awaiting developments." Southgate has also insisted that he wants Mido to partner Yakubu Aiyegbeni - who is wanted by Everton. The Toffees are set to lodge a bid for the Nigerian, who has attracted attention from a host of clubs this summer - and looks as if he could soon depart the club.
