Davids not going Dutch

Ajax have ended their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Edgar Davids.

Martin van Geel has confirmed that Ajax have ended their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Edgar Davids.

The Eredivisie outfit had been engaged in a lengthy wait for Davids to make a decision about his future, but after capturing Roger from Villarreal a deal is no longer on the cards.

Davids graduated from Ajax's famed youth academy before embarking on a career with a number of Europe's top clubs, but technical director van Geel has now stated that the 33-year-old will not be returning to the Amsterdam ArenA.

"We waited a long time on Edgar but he wouldn't make a decision," van Geel told AD Sportwereld.

"We didn't want to push him, but the club has to move on."

The former Holland international has advanced his desire to return to his homeland to finish his career and his future at White Hart Lane is now up in the air with Ajax no longer an option.
