Mido: Ajax are bigger than Spurs

Mido is enjoying life at Tottenham but concedes that Ajax are a bigger club.

Egyptian striker Mido is enjoying life at Tottenham but concedes that Ajax are a bigger club than the White Hart Lane outfit.

The forward has been in good form this term, and converted a penalty in the 3-1 win over Portsmouth on Monday night.

Although under contract with parent club Roma until 2009, he clearly has designs on settling in North London as he enjoys Premiership football.

"Everything can happen after this season," he said of his future.

"However, I am very happy over here at Tottenham.

"The English league suits me well.

"Quick, attacking and physically strong. No, the English league isn't boring at all. If a big team is playing against a smaller club, you could never forecast who will win."

Mido is pleased with the acquisition of Edgar Davids, voted man of the match on Monday, and thinks Spurs can compete for a place in next year's UEFA Champions League.

"I think it's possible to finish in the top four," he told Dutch weekly magazine Sportweek. "With qualification for the Champions League.

"We are not playing with wingers like at Ajax, however we are playing offensive football.

"The signing of Davids was a good move from the coach [Martin Jol]. It was precisely the experienced player we needed in this mostly young squad.

"We needed a guy like that. And, I wouldn't call him an old guy, if you look at him in the training exercises and matches.

"The Premiership is stronger and bigger than the Dutch league, but Ajax are a bigger club than Tottenham Hotspur. Ajax has much more history and glory."
