West Brom star Zoltan Gera has retained the Hungarian Player of the Year award after obtaining maximum points in the annual vote.Gera has seen his contribution this season restricted by injury, but he played a crucial role in keeping The Baggies in The Premiership in the first half of 2005.
The £1.5 million signing from Ferencvaros became a firm favourite at The Hawthorns after a number of influential displays, and he has again been recognised by journalists in his homeland.
Gera lands the Hungarian Golden Ball award for the second year in succession, and his dominance in the considerations of the voters was reflected in the fact that all 29 designated him the country's top player.
Debrecen's Tamas Sandor came second, whilst Crystal Palace outcast Sandor Torghelle, currently on loan at Panathinaikos, was voted into third place.
Gera advanced his delight at retaining the gong, but insisted he was still striving to improve his level of performance after an injury-hit start to the current campaign.
"It's a great honour for me that so many journalists appreciated my football and they think that I was the best in two following years," Gera said on his personal website.
"I'm happy to get this prize but I'm more critical with myself than the journalists.
"I'd like to produce extraordinary displays more often and hopefully the best I did this year would be an average performance of mine in the future.
"I had a good spring, it's one of the best seasons of my career, but I wouldn't say the same about the autumn.
"I missed many games because of injuries and when I played I wasn't in perfect condition."
Further English representation came in the form of Coventry's on-loan Tottenham keeper Marton Fulop and Plymouth's Akos Buzsaky, with the Championship duo equal in 15th place.
