Spurs farm out Ziegler

Reto Ziegler has sealed a loan switch to Hamburg on deadline day.

Reto Ziegler has sealed a loan switch to Hamburg as Tottenham continue to wheel and deal on transfer deadline day.

The Swiss youngster is highly regarded at White Hart Lane but the competition for places is fierce and he has been allowed to spend a season in Germany's Bundesliga.

Spurs coach Martin Jol has confirmed that the midfielder's long-term future is definitely with the North Londoners.

"Reto is a very big talent," Jol told the club's official website. "But we have Andy Reid and Edgar Davids in his position.

"He had a strong season for us but he now needs to play more games.

"With this being possible at another very good team, it is an excellent opportunity for Reto.

"He is a young lad and I have agreed with Reto that it will be good for him to go away and get more experience.

"But he is still a player for our future."

Meanwhile, Mido's appeal against wrongful dismissal for his red card against Chelsea has been turned down by The FA.
