Barca ready for Fredi

Fredi Kanoute has emerged as a shock target for Spanish giants Barcelona.

The Catalan outfit are looking for striking reinforcements and have been linked with a host of names.

Ideally Barca want somebody in on loan to cover for the injured Henrik Larsson - who is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

The Spanish giants are very much on top of things in La Liga and they have genuine aspirations of going all the way in the UEFA Champions League - but their squad is looking a little thin and they will probably look to add to all their departments - barring a goalkeeper.

Barca would ideally like a player who is not cup-tied for Europe, which has seen them strongly linked with Manchester City's Nicolas Anelka.

However, interest in Anelka has been denied by Barca as they seem to have other targets.

Reports in Spain now insist that Kanoute is the man in line for a move to Camp Nou.

Tottenham have already insisted that they do not want to sell any of their strikers, with Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane also linked with moves away from the club.

However, should Spurs land a new striker of their own during January - then that may allow one of Defoe, Keane or Kanoute to leave.
