Hoddle: We need bigger squad

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR manager Glenn Hoddle has stated that he needs to strengthen this summer after being down to the bare bones for most of this season.

Hoddle is hoping to discuss the squad size with the directors at the club, in a bid to bring in some new faces at White Hart Lane.

"I am working daily with the board towards bringing in more," said Hoddle "We are down to the barest of bones."

The North London club will not have been helped by the injuries picked up by defenders Ledley King and Dean Richards during their last minute defeat at Highbury.

"We have probably lost Ledley King with an Achilles problem for next Saturday against West Ham, possibly Dean Richards as well," continued the former Southampton manager.

Hoddle particularly feels that injuries have crippled his side this campaign saying: "The most frustrating thing after a year here has been the injuries.

"I have a lot of solid experienced players just wiped out - Stephen Carr, Gary Doherty, Steffend Freund among many - and it has hit us. It really has."
