Barnet ace won't give up Football League place

Barnet's highly-rated playmaker Ricky Holmes insists that he won't be leaving the Football League without a fight. The 25-year-old has been a big hit at Underhill since arriving from non-league Chelmsford in 2010, helping the Bees narrowly avoid relegation on the final day of the past two seasons. However, having waited so long to return to the Football League Holmes, who is entering the final year of his contract at Barnet, told SkySports.com that he is determined to remain in the league, with or without the Bees. "My initial two-year contract came to an end this summer, but the club opted to take up the option of the third year, so I'm now in my final year. "I've got a year left and if I do well then hopefully Barnet will offer me something else or another club will be interested in taking me on because I really want to stay in the Football League. "I waited so long to get back into the Football League and was held back at various stages of my career, so now that I'm in there I want to stay in it for the rest of my career if possible."
