Popular defender wants a fifth year at Fratton Park

Veteran defender Hermann Hreidarsson is hoping to earn an extension at Portsmouth. The Iceland international has recovered from a career-threatening Achilles injury to become a regular in the Pompey side during the second half of the season. The 36-year-old, who joined from Charlton in 2007, earned a new one-year deal after returning from his injury in October. And the former Ipswich and Crystal Palace man is eager to agree another new contract at Fratton Park. "I want to stay, that's for sure," he told the News. "There are no negotiations going on but I have told them how I feel. I've told them I want to stay, so I am just waiting for them. "I'm not quite sure what will happen next. I just hope we will sit down. I want to stay, I feel good and I am enjoying it here."
