Paska confirms Baros and Berger bids

Portsmouth have made a move for Lyon's Milan Baros, his agent has revealed. Harry Redknapp is desperate to bolster his squad and would like to sign Baros, along with his former Liverpool and Czech international team-mate Patrik Berger. Baros has had a tough time at Lyon under, coincidentally, former Pompey boss Alain Perrin and he was left out of the side which lost at Lens on Sunday. Baros had seemed set to remain at the Stade Gerland, but with Brazilian Fred now looking set to stay, it appears the chances of him leaving have increased greatly. Portsmouth were one of the clubs looking at Fred, but Redknapp has now turned his attention to Baros, and his agent Pavel Paska claims an offer has been lodged.

Offer

"I have already given the official offer of Portsmouth to Lyon's management," Pavel Paska told Czech daily Sport. "Their coach Harry Redknapp has an eminent interest in Milan." Paska has already revealed Redknapp's interest in Berger and he admits his two charges could both end up on the South Coast. "At Portsmouth he could rejoin with Patrik Berger who should move there from Aston Villa," Paska continued. "Harry Redknapp was a fan of Patrik Berger in the past. He trusts Czech players - that is why he would like to bet on Milan." Paska went into more detail about Berger's possible return to Pompey - where he played for two seasons before joining Villa. "It is Patrik whom Redknapp would like to see at Portsmouth now in January," he said. "He runs out of contract at Aston Villa in the summer. I have already discussed it with Villa manager Martin O'Neill and so far he has not been too excited about it. We will continue in talks."
