Portsmouth new boy Papa Bouba Diop has declared that he left Fulham to challenge for honours. The Senegal international completed a move to Pompey on transfer deadline day, after feeling unwanted at Craven Cottage. He believes he has joined a better club in Portsmouth and is hoping to qualify for next season's Uefa Cup. "Portsmouth have the squad and management to push for honours and are good enough to be playing European football next season," Diop told the Daily Star on Sunday. "I didn't get that feeling at Fulham and when the new manager Lawrie Sanchez came in, it was best that I moved on. "I wasn't part of his plans."
