Stoke defender Andy Griffin is hoping to make his loan move from Portsmouth permanent.
The 27-year-old has been an instant hit with The Potters since joining the club on loan in a contract which is set to expire soon.
But Griffin has expressed his interest in extending his time with the club on a more permanent basis.
"Hopefully something can materialise in January, but that is out of my hands," Griffin told the club's official website.
"I have said in the past that I would be very happy to talk to the club about staying here permanently.
"I only live around the corner, and it was always my ambition as soon as I left the club (in 1998) that I would return here."
