Arca makes Black Cats vow

Sunderland winger Julio Arca has reiterated his desire to remain at The Stadium of Light.

Sunderland winger Julio Arca has reiterated his desire to remain with the Premiership strugglers.

The Argentine midfielder says he has not been contacted by Premiership rivals Portsmouth, with his agent Stefan Schwarz having already stated the player's happiness with life on Wearside.

With his Black Cats contract still to run until the summer of 2007, the 24-year-old stated his determination to help with Sunderland's fight for Premiership survival this season.

"I'm not thinking about going anywhere," Arca told the club's official website.

"I'll just try to help Sunderland and finish my season here and then see what happens, see if we get relegated or not and decide what's going to happen with me.

"I have another year's contract here and I would like to stay."

Meanwhile, Sunderland's Premiership clash with Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park has been re-arranged for Wednesday, February 15.

The match had been due to take on December 28, 2005 during the busy festive fixture period but was called off due to a frozen pitch.
