Bolton defender hits out following weekend defeat to Wigan

Zat Knight stated Bolton Wanderers were not 'up to scratch' in their 2-1 weekend defeat by Wigan Athletic. Victory over their fellow strugglers would have seen Owen Coyle's men move out of the Premier League's drop zone. James McArthur's winner at the Reebok Stadium means the bottom five clubs are now separated by two points. Knight has refused to single out individuals in the loss and he admits everyone is frustrated at the team's inability to perform against teams around them. However, the 31-year-old is not dwelling on what might have been and insists Bolton's dressing room remains united and willing to give everything for the cause.

Individuals

"Everybody is a bit p****d off. One or two individuals weren't up to scratch and as a team we did not gel," stated Knight. "I am not going to pick people out, but everybody knows who they are and we are going to have to look at ourselves. "As professionals I don't think we need to point fingers because we are just going to dig ourselves into a deeper and deeper hole. "Some people are out of contract (in the summer) but you never want relegation on your CV.
Frustration
"For whatever reason we are playing for, everybody wants to be positive and everybody wants to stay up. The frustrating thing is that we know we can do it. We know we can rub shoulders with the best teams. "We let ourselves down when we come against teams around us. "The dressing room is still united. I don't really see any holes in it and, as long as we are united, I still have belief in us. "It is difficult to deal with the pressure, but you have to dig deep within yourself and find something. "It would be easy to pick on little things like the formation and how it is changing from week to week, but at the end of the day it is still 11 against 11."
