Reading have informed Scott Davies and David Mooney that they can leave the Madejski Stadium.
Royals boss Brian McDermott has told the duo that their careers may be better served elsewhere as they do not figure in his long-term plans.
The pair have not travelled with the Royals' first-team squad for their pre-season preparations in Slovakia and Croatia.
McDermott told the Crowthorne and Sandhurst Times: "I've had conversations with Scotty Davies and David Mooney.
"Sometimes when players like Scotty have been here a long time, they probably need to find where their career is going to be. David Mooney is the same."
