Davies earns new Royals deal

Reading have handed midfielder Scott Davies a new two-year deal to keep him at the Madejski Stadium.

Young midfielder signs on until 2011

Reading have handed young midfielder Scott Davies a new two-year deal to keep him at the Madejski Stadium. Davies, who has spent the last two seasons on loan with Aldershot, was out of contract in the summer but has agreed fresh terms to stay until 2011. Royals director of football Nick Hammond has been impressed with Davies' displays during his time with the League Two club. Reading are due to appoint a new manager following Steve Coppell's resignation with Davies now having the chance to shine under whoever takes the hotseat. Hammond told the club's official website: "Scott had another very good season on loan with Aldershot, playing 45 games and scoring 14 goals. "He can now look forward to coming back for pre-season with an opportunity to impress our new manager."
