Royals boss backs striker to find scoring touch

Steve Coppell is adamant that Leroy Lita will be back among the goals for Reading in the near future. The striker is back with the Royals after being recalled from a loan spell at Championship side Charlton, and was handed an immediate return to first-team action for the 0-0 draw with Wigan on Saturday. The former England Under 21 international put in a bright display at the JJB Stadium, and Coppell believes he could be the man to fire the club to Premier League safety.

Privileged

"He fitted straight back in," Coppell told the club's official website. He's got goals in him, I can guarantee that. He might not have been outstanding at Wigan but he fitted back in to what we're about. "He's very much been part of the club's success in the last two years. He's as proud as anybody to be playing, and privileged to be playing at this level. We all want to be here next year."
Worked hard
Reading first-team coach Wally Downes was also delighted by the standard of Lita's performance on his return to the fold. "The only thing more we could have asked for is if he'd scored. "He worked really hard, chased it down and looked like he'd never been away. "It reminded me of how (Kevin) Doyle has been recently, he's been playing well but not scoring and they both gave their all.
Unlucky
"It was terrific to see Leroy come back and it was a shame he just didn't get that chance. "We created a few chances against a solid side and that was a plus. They were throwing bodies in there, it's not like we were missing them. "Normally after a game like that you'd say it was unlucky, but at a time like this it takes on more importance."
