Royals line up Depor deal

Skysports.com understands Reading are lining up a move for Deportivo defender Juanma.

Skysports.com understands Reading are lining up a move for Deportivo La Coruna defender Juanma.

Juanma is considering his future at Depor with his current contract due to expire in the summer.

The central defender has a clause in his contract which automatically gives him a new deal at Depor if he plays 25 games this season.

However, Juanma has dropped out of favour at La Riazor and has only featured in seven La Liga games this term.

Reading are thought to have put together a three-year deal in a bid to try and lure Juanma to The Madejski Stadium.

The player's agent Mario Parri confirmed Reading are leading the chase for Juanma's signature and that he has met with Deportivo to try and thrash out the 30-year-old's future.

"I attended a meeting with the president Augusto Cesar Lendorio to try and find out the real position of the club regarding this subject (of the clause in his contract) and I believe the best solution for all would be to annul this clause," Parri told skysports.com.

"For a professional it is unjust to wait many months to study the future.

"Initially my desire is to continue at Deportivo, but the club has not answered my request.

"Also the English option is more than adequate.

"We need to find a speedy solution for us to make a decision. Juanma has several options in Spain, but Reading is the main one.

"The offer is serious and important. They have set a deadline for the answer and we want to close the subject."
