The youngster has impressed on trial with The Royals - and despite tentative interest from Chelsea, has earned a deal with the club.
Morgan - who can play in midfield or up front - left Colchester in the summer and is a free agent.
"Chelsea rang me when I left Colchester," Morgan told the club's official website.
"So when I see them next week for the cup game I'll tell them I'm here now!"
