Bolton midfielder Neil Danns has been called up by the Guyana national team for their forthcoming friendly double-header against St Lucia and Grenada.

Danns qualifies to play for the South American country through his grandfather, and will be joined in the team by Millwall defender Matthew Briggs, who is currently on loan at Colchester.

Guyana face St Lucia at the National Stadium in Georgetown on Sunday, March 22, before taking on Grenada at the same venue seven days later.

“It’s a new experience going to play at an international level and obviously a different tempo and different styles of matches,” the 32-year-old told Sky Sports News HQ.

“It’s one I look forward to being involved in. When I first got the call I was actually really excited because I’ve never really thought about it.

"It never crossed my mind that I would get an opportunity to play international football, and as soon as I got the call I was excited and really, really enthusiastic about it.”

Bolton, who currently sit 16th in the Championship table, will be without Danns when they travel to Wigan this Saturday.
