Bolton defender stokes fire ahead of trip to the Etihad

Bolton full-back Sam Ricketts believes Manchester City are likely to be beaten to the Premier League title by bitter rivals Manchester United. The Trotters travel to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday as huge underdogs to take anything away from their clash with the league leaders. United, meanwhile, have what is on paper a much tougher contest against high-flying Spurs at White Hart Lane a day later. But Ricketts has risked angering Bolton's next opponents by predicting that the Red Devils will be celebrating a 20th league championship at the end of the season. "Are City favourites for the title? Not for me. United are still the favourites in my book," he told the Manchester Evening News.

Form

"Everyone has been saying how well City have been playing, even writing United off. But all of a sudden they're just behind them in the table and they haven't even hit top form. "United have been there and done it, that's what gives them a slight edge." While City and United look increasingly likely to decide the destination of the title between themselves, Bolton are fighting to avoid relegation. Wanderers currently lie 19th in the Premier League table on 20 points and although he may not think City are league-winning material, Ricketts is under no illusions how difficult Saturday's clash will be. He added: "They've been fantastic. They've started to reap the rewards of all the money they've spent. I don't think there's many harder places to go than the Etihad these days. It'll be a tough task."
