USA star cancelled honeymoon to seal Wanderers deal

Bolton boss Owen Coyle has revealed USA defender Tim Ream cancelled his honeymoon to speed up his transfer to the Premier League club. Ream, 24, should complete his move to the Reebok, where he will replace England defender Gary Cahill after his £7m move to Chelsea, when he receives work permit clearance next week. The New York Red Bulls centre-half married childhood sweetheart Kristen Sapienza, who also played football at collegiate level in the US, less than a fortnight ago. But he cancelled their planned trip to the South Pacific island of Tahiti to seal the move to Greater Manchester.

Keen

Coyle said: "Tim got married a week past Saturday and I had to ask him to cancel his honeymoon to Tahiti, which is something he gladly did. "That shows how keen he is to be involved. "Tim's wife is also a footballer, a very good one, so they were well aware and went into it with their eyes wide open. They knew it could possibly happen. "So having made the phone call it was something for them to discuss. "And, fair play to him, he decided to come to sunny Bolton instead of Tahiti." The Trotters boss believes Ream, who he claims was targeted by Arsenal last summer, can go straight into his second-bottom side as they aim to avoid relegation.
