Bolton defender believes team-mate will improve at Chelsea

Zat Knight thinks team-mate Gary Cahill will prove a big hit at Chelsea with the stand-in Bolton skipper on the verge of completing a move to Stamford Bridge. Cahill - who played what is widely expected to be his last game for the Trotters in the 1-1 Premier League draw with Wolves on Saturday - is set to complete a £7million transfer to the Blues. And centre-back partner Knight believes the switch to Andre Villas-Boas' team will bring the best out of the 26-year-old England defender.

Fantastic

"When you play with top players it brings the best out of you," said Knight. "He's a fantastic player, but hopefully there's a lot more for him still to give." "He's shown in the last few seasons how good he is. Now if he's going to be playing week in, week out with John Terry and Ashley Cole then he'll get a lot more games with England, I'm sure." However, Knight is hoping he hasn't seen the back of Cahill for at least another few weeks.
Understand
Knight said: "It looks like he's going to a fantastic club - but hopefully it doesn't happen just yet. Maybe it won't happen until the end of January. "But of course we understand why he'll want to go. As a footballer you want to try and play at the highest level. "Playing for Chelsea will be the highest level because it will mean Champions League football." Rock-bottom Bolton's next league game is a trip to Everton on Wednesday, but it remains to be seen whether Cahill will figure.
