Premier League clubs are monitoring Raul Tamudo's situation after Espanyol agreed to let him leave.

Espanyol would allow striker to leave for €2.5million

Premier League clubs have stepped up their interest in Raul Tamudo after Espanyol decided to let the influential striker leave for just €2.5million. The 31-year-old has been a regular in the Espanyol first-team for close to ten seasons but now it seems the Periquitos have decided to cash in according to Catalunya Radio. The Spaniard scored six times in 26 games last season as he helped the club to miraculously survive the drop and it would seem his efforts have not gone unnoticed. Sunderland, Bolton, Portsmouth and top flight new boys Wolves and Birmingham have all been monitoring the front man's situation, with his cheap buy-out clause seemingly making him an attractive proposition.

Fans favourite

Espanyol had agreed to let Tamudo leave last summer but for the slightly higher price of €4million. However, the skipper was taken off the market after a lack of interest in his services. That is unlikely to happen again as clubs clamber to claim a player who has bagged 129 league goals in his nine seasons in Spain. Midfielder Ivan de la Pena could follow fans' favourite Tamudo out of the club if he fails to agree a new deal in the coming weeks.
