Trotters look to Hassli

BOLTON WANDERERS boss Sam Allardyce is looking to add to the signing of Mario Espartero by bringing in his Metz team-mate Eric Hassli.

The Trotters snapped up troubled midfielder Espartero on loan until the end of the season on Thursday, and Allardyce is ready to offer striker Hassli a trial at The Reebok Stadium.

The powerful striker has previously had a trial with Sunderland, as Peter Reid saw him as ideal cover for Niall Quinn, and he could now try his luck at Bolton.

The tall and powerful 20-year-old is a highly-rated prospect in France, but has recently lost his place in the side that are struggling in Le Championnat.

After also bringing in Fredi Bobic and Youri Djorkaeff, Allardyce is pulling out all the stops in his attempt to keep his side in The Premiership and believes another striker will boost his chances of staying up.

Hassli is keen to try his luck in England as his size and strength should be ideally suited to the style of play in England's top flight.
