Midfielder Muhamed Besic has withdrawn from Everton's pre-season tour to Singapore after failing to recover from an ankle injury.

The Bosnia international limped off during Everton's 4-0 win at Swindon Town on Saturday and has not travelled with the rest of the squad as they prepare to take part in the Barclays Asia Trophy.

Manager Roberto Martinez said: "It's nothing too serious, but he hasn't travelled. He will be working hard back at Finch Farm."

He joins Leighton Baines, Darron Gibson, Bryan Oviedo and Aiden McGeady on the list of players to miss the week-long stay in Asia.

Besic is replaced in the squad by 17-year-old Ryan Ledson, who made his first-team debut in the Europa League last season.

Everton begin the tournament by facing Stoke City on Wednesday before taking on either Arsenal or a Singapore Select XI on Saturday.
