Everton goalkeeper Richard Wright has been ruled out for several weeks with an ankle injury.The former Ipswich Town and Arsenal custodian sustained the injury during the warm-up before Wednesday's FA Cup fourth round replay defeat at Chelsea.
Wright landed on a wooden sign board in the goalmouth and twisted his ankle, thus forcing him to withdraw from Wednesday's cup tie.
Scans have since confirmed that the 28-year-old's ankle has been 'badly sprained' and that the England international faces more than a month on the sidelines with the problem.
"When I first saw the incident, I didn't realise how bad it was," Toffees head physio Mick Rathbone told the club's official website.
"Wrighty came over to me and said he had gone over on his ankle and walked off the pitch, but you could almost see it visibly swelling up.
"We got his boot off and it looked awful. We checked it over quickly and I think it looked worse than it was.
"He went for a routine MRI scan (on Thursday) and that confirmed what we thought.
"We are all agreed that he has a badly strained ankle. I would say four to six weeks for him, but it could have been a lot worse."
The injury news means Everton boss David Moyes will look to youngster Iain Turner to start against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, with former Cambridge United keeper John Ruddy expected to deputise for the Merseysiders.
