Latics increase numbers

THE depleted ranks at Oldham have been given a boost with the news that five new players have joined the club.

Bolton defender N'Diwa Lord-Kangana has moved to Boundary Park on a month-long loan deal and is expected to go straight into the side to face Brighton on Saturday.

Three other players, Mickael Antoine-Curier, Dave Carney and Matt O'Halloran have signed up on non-contract terms.

Curier is a striker who was released by Nottingham Forest at the end of last season and was looked at by Burnley earlier in the summer.

Australian Carney was let go by Everton and had an unsuccessful trial at Gillingham during the close season.

Ex-Derby County man O'Halloran has also joined The Latics after failing to win a contract at Hartlepool United.

Oldham boss Iain Dowie (pictured) can also now call upon John Sheridan who has re-registered as a player after hanging up his boots.

The club's precarious financial position throughout the pre-season has seen many of the squad that reached the play-offs last term depart leaving Dowie with a depleted squad going into the new campaign.
