Arsenal v West Brom preview: Gunners aiming for first win in four

WEST BROMWICH, ENGLAND - NOVEMBER 29: Aaron Ramsey of Arsenal closes down Chris Brunt of West Brom during the Barclays Premier League match between West B

Arsenal will be looking for their first win in four Premier League games when they host West Brom on the final day of the season.

The Gunners have lost to Swansea and drawn with both Manchester United and Sunderland as they have stuttered in their run-in.

Arsene Wenger's men look to have secured third place and automatic entry into the Champions League group stage, however, as they sit three points clear of Manchester United with a superior goal difference.

The visitors, meanwhile, are unbeaten in five in a superb run which has seen them beat Louis van Gaal's side as well as earn a 3-0 win over champions Chelsea.

Team news

Arsenal will again be without England forward Danny Welbeck because of a knee problem, while midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mathieu Debuchy (both hamstring) are set to step up training ahead of the FA Cup final.

Captain Mikel Arteta, meanwhile, continues his rehabiliation after an ankle problem.

Tony Pulis has no fresh injury worries ahead of West Brom's final game of the season at the Emirates.

Goalkeeper Ben Foster remains out until October with cruciate knee ligament damage, and he is the Baggies' only major absentee as they could be unchanged from Monday's victory.

Opta facts

Arsenal have won six and lost none of their last seven Barclays Premier League matches against West Bromwich Albion.

The Baggies have never kept a clean sheet against Arsenal in the Premier League (35 goals conceded in 17 matches).

Arsenal are unbeaten on the final day in each of the last nine seasons, the longest current run.

Only West Ham have scored as many headed goals as West Brom this season (15).

Since 2006 Arsenal have finished the Premier League in the following positions: 4th, 4th, 3rd, 4th, 3rd, 4th, 3rd, 4th and 4th.

Tony Pulis has lost all six of his Premier League games as manager versus Arsene Wenger at the Emirates.

Merson's prediction

I watched Arsenal the other day and they were frustrating. They pass it, pass it. They had enough chances but at the same time Sunderland had some good, good, chances. If that game was in November, then Arsenal would have won 5-0. I think this a lovely game for both teams. Arsenal have a FA Cup final to look forward to and if they could pick a team to play this would be it. West Brom won’t go out and kick anybody.

PAUL PREDICTS: 3-1 (10/1 with Sky Bet)

Betting

Arsenal are Sky Bet's odds-on favourites to finish their season in winning fashion against 13/2 shots West Brom. The Gunners are 7/1 not to score at home for a consecutive home game, having failed to do so against Chelsea, Swansea and Sunderland, while five of their last six Premier League matches have been under 2.5 goals; a 6/5 shot on Sunday. West Brom have finished the season strongly and Saido Berahino, who scored twice against Chelsea last week, is 4/1 to net in 90 minutes and a hefty 16/1 to score in an away win.
