The Daily Mirror's John Cross believes Arsene Wenger will be at Arsenal for at least another two years

Arsene Wenger is "addicted" to Arsenal and could further extend his contract as he seeks to win the title again, according to the Sunday Supplement panel.

The Gunners host league leaders Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, but are 10 points behind their London rivals heading into the final month of the season.

But the Daily Mirror's John Cross believes it is not all doom and gloom for a side who have not won the title since the 2003/4 season.

Speaking on the Sunday Supplement, Cross said: "He (Wenger) should sign Petr Cech or someone of that ilk, a really world class goalkeeper, and a holding midfield player to boost the squad. And then I think he's nearly there. They are so close.

"Not only do I think he will see out the remaining two years of his contract that are left, but if he thinks he is making progress, he will push for another. That's Arsene Wenger - he is addicted to football, addicted to Arsenal."

It will be interesting to see where he (Wenger) addresses these in the summer. If he does, I think they will be potential title winners next year.

Last season, Arsenal topped the table for much of the season, and then fell away to finish fourth, and they have not finished higher than third since 2004/05.

Every year, Cross notes, Wenger's side are tipped for greatness, but miss out - something that will have frustrated Wenger for the best part of a decade.

"We reach a point in every season and say 'Arsenal will be contenders next season'," Cross continued. "Last year, we were talking about the defensive midfield player that they didn't sign in the summer and that's why they're falling short.

"I think he is closing down on the title, it's very obvious where Arsenal's frailties are, and it will be interesting to see where he addresses these in the summer. If he does, I think they will be potential title winners next year."
