Owen Coyle says Bolton have opened talks with Arsenal over the possibility of signing teenager Ryo Miyaichi on loan for another season.

Trotters want teenager on loan for another campaign

Bolton manager Owen Coyle has revealed he has opened talks with Arsenal over the possibility of signing Japanese teenager Ryo Miyaichi on loan for another season. The 19-year-old winger spent the second half of the campaign on loan at the Reebok Stadium, notching up 12 appearances for the Trotters. Coyle's side will ply their trade in the Championship next term following their relegation on the final day of the season, but the manager is keen to tempt Miyaichi back for another year after holding talks with the Gunners. "We'd love to have him back - he's an exciting young player and that's what we want for next year," Coyle told the Bolton News. "I've had a discussion with Arsenal already and it's only early days in the summer but we'll see how that pans out. "Ryo certainly loved his time at the club. If we could get him back with us again, then that would be great."

Injuries

Miyaichi impressed during his first few games for Bolton but the latter part of his season was hindered by injuries. Coyle added: "To be fair to the kid, he was trying to play through injuries in the last four or five games and I had to say to him 'in order to be at your best, you have to be at your maximum fitness.' He had such a big heart that he wanted to play his part. We had to take him out of the firing line." The manager does not feel Bolton's relegation will badly affect the club's chances of attracting top loan signings this summer. "The relationship we've got with the top clubs is there for everyone to see," he said. "You can see that with the quality of player we've been able to get in on loan, and that will continue to be the case. "If the right ones become available then we'll do everything we can to bring them to the football club."
