Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits his side's bid for a third-place Premier League finish is 'looking good' after cruising to victory at Wolves on Wednesday night.
Wenger's men strolled to a 3-0 win over the strugglers at Molineux, with their endeavour largely helped by Sebastien Bassong's dismissal early on for a foul on Theo Walcott.
Captain Robin van Persie converted the resulting penalty before Walcott and Yossi Benayoun sealed the win.
Pleased
The Gunners now sit five points clear of nearest rivals Tottenham in third place and Wenger was delighted with the result after a strong run of form.
"I'm pleased we got the three points, a clean sheet and scored three goals," Wenger told
Sky Sports.
"We wanted to start strong and we had good pace; a good, remarkable start. That got us to two nil and put them in a weak position because they were down to 10 men."
Asked about a third-placed finish the manager replied: "It is looking good but in our job, when you have my experience, you're always cautious."
Wenger hailed goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny after he pulled off a stunning save to deny Kevin Doyle in the second half.
He added: "I'm pleased for that because sometimes when you're young a goalkeeper can switch off a little bit when your team is comfortable.
"It was an important save as well as an important moment of the game."
The Gunners boss hailed the resilience of Wolves and believes if they continue to show fighting spirit they can sidestep relegation, despite their precarious position at the bottom of the table.
Not easy
"It's not that easy because Wolves came deep at the start, they played higher. When they were down to 10 men they played deeper and defended very well," he said.
"You have to give them big credit because they have shown a remarkable spirit and never gave up and did fight for the ball until the last minute of the game.
"If they can keep that spirit they still have a chance to stay in the league."
