Rennes are resigned to losing Yann M'Vila in the summer, with the club prepared to honour their part of an agreement struck last year.
The Ligue 1 outfit have been aware for some time that they have a special talent on their hands and that the day would eventually come when they were forced to part ways.
It appears as though that day will arrive when the transfer window re-opens, with the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Real Madrid ready to pounce.
The one consolation for Rennes is that they will be able to demand a sizeable fee for their highly-rated France international.
They agreed with M'Vila in the summer of 2011 that they would allow him to leave at the end of the current campaign if he penned a long-term contract.
He did and Rennes are now readying themselves for the start of a bidding war.

"Last summer, the deal was that he remained for one more season and then we would not block a move if a good offer arrived," general manager Pierre Dreossi told
L'Equipe.
"We have contacts, but nothing has been agreed as yet."
Rennes coach Frederic Antonetti is reluctant to part with M'Vila, but begrudgingly accepts that he cannot stand in the way of a 21-year-old destined for the very top.
"It is logical that he will go," he told
RMC.
"He can play for any of the top clubs in Europe and we can't prevent him from doing that."
