Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas claims there is no chance of Yoann Gourcuff being offloaded during the winter transfer window.
With the Ligue 1 outfit experiencing financial difficulties, they have been forced to accept that sales are a must.
Aulas has previously admitted that two key men could be offloaded in an effort to cut costs.
Such an announcement has alerted Europe's top clubs to the possible availability of France international Gourcuff.
Arsenal are believed to be among those monitoring the playmaker's situation, with Arsene Wenger known to be a long-time admirer of the talented 25-year-old.
Aulas has, however, sought to play down speculation regarding Gourcuff's future by insisting he is not among those Lyon are willing to consider parting with.
Staying
"Yoann is a Lyon player and he will remain with Lyon after 31st December and until 30th June," he told
OLTV.
"It is likely that he will remain with the club for a long time after that date."
Gourcuff's agent has also attempted to curb the rumours regarding his client, with it his opinion that the former AC Milan forward can fulfil his ambitions at Stade Gerland.
"There is no special situation," said Jean-Pierre Bernes.
"He has suffered injuries and he has been forced to play in a number of different positions. This happens at every big club.
"Euro 2012? It is logical that he wants to play in the tournament and playing at Lyon won't harm his chances."
