Striker makes dream debut for Gunners in Germany

Arsene Wenger expressed his delight with new signing Gervinho after the striker's brace helped Arsenal to a 2-1 pre-season victory against Cologne at the RheinEnergie Stadion on Saturday. The Ivory Coast International striker, who joined the North London giants from French outfit Lille during the summer, was only on the field for less than half an hour, but made an instant impression on his debut. And the Gunners boss was delighted with the impact from the 24-year-old, who bagged 18 goals for the Ligue 1 side last campaign, which prompted Wenger to make a move for the player. The Frenchman told the club's official website: "Gervinho had a good start and that is always important for his confidence. "He has shown his qualities. He has quick movement behind (the defence), the timing of his movement is great and he is easy to find. We have seen what he can bring to the team and he contributes to the high pace we have in the team."
