Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor could be out for three weeks with a thigh injury.
Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor is expected to out for up to three weeks after picking up an injury in the 2-0 Carling Cup win over West Bromwich Albion.The Togo international started the third round victory at The Hawthorns but lasted just 24 minutes before being replaced by 17-year-old Frenchman Armand Traore.
Subsequent examinations revealed that Adebayor suffered a thigh injury against The Baggies and the former Monaco man has now been definitely ruled out of Everton's visit to Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is also concerned that the problem may keep the gangly forward in the treatment room for a longer period, with his participation in the UEFA Champions League clash with CSKA Moscow on November 1 and the following Premiership game with West Ham now firmly in doubt.
"It doesn't look too good," Wenger told the club's official website.
"He will miss Everton and maybe more. This type of injury usually takes 21 days."
Adebayor has largely been used as a backup to Wenger's preferred attacking partnership of Thierry Henry and Robin van Persie this season, and his enforced absence could present an opportunity for Jeremie Aliadiere to press his claims for a place on the bench after scoring both goals against West Brom on Tuesday night.
Whilst the French striker caught the eye at The Hawthorns with his match-winning display, Wenger was also delighted with the performance of Brazilian youngster Denilson as the midfielder made his first team debut after a transfer deadline day move from Sao Paulo.
Wenger was glowing in his praise for the Samba starlet - who was previously named in the squad for the UEFA Champions League defeat at CSKA Moscow - but admitted the strong competition in his first team meant an appearance in a more high-profile competition may still be slightly further down the road.
"I felt he had a great game," added Wenger.
"He's just 18 and he had a tremendous presence and a tremendous engine. I felt he did extremely well.
"I look to fast track all of my young players but I can only play 11 and the ones who play already in the first-team are not too bad you know."
