Thomas gunning for Arsenal

Jerome Thomas is hoping to show Arsenal what they have been missing.

Jerome Thomas is hoping to show Arsenal what they have been missing when Charlton Athletic meet the champions over the festive period.

The level-headed youngster produced a man-of-the-match performance in the victory against Fulham on Monday night and would not like to be rested for the game against his former employers.

Southampton are up next for the in-form Addicks and Thomas could be a key figure again.

"I'm looking forward to playing against Arsenal [on New Year's Day]," he said. "If I am picked.

"I just want to think about the next game we have, which is Southampton on Boxing Day, and that is what I am going to be concentrating on.

"We have got a lot of games coming up; four games in eight days, so the team is going to have to be changed and players are going to have to be rested.

"But, if I play, I will definitely be looking forward to it.

"I'm sure they know what they've lost by now but that is not really important.

"I didn't get my chance and have moved on so I have no hard feelings or grudges against anyone at Arsenal.

"If they want me that badly, they'll have to buy me back!"

Thomas, who scored the opening goal against Fulham, turned down a new contract in order to leave Highbury.

"I needed a new challenge," he stated.

"I was offered a new contract and it was a decision I made to leave the club.

"I sat down with my agent and family and discussed it, and we thought it was time to move on.

"Now I want to be fighting for my place here and that is what I have done."
