The Gunners are continually being linked with a host of potential new number ones and Frey is thought to be on Arsene Wenger's list of possibilities.
Frey is a player of undoubted quality and Wenger will know plenty about his fellow countryman.
The one major sticking point with Frey could be the fact he is still under contract for three years at Ennio Tardini.
Bayern Munich and Roma are also thought to be looking at him, but Arsenal is understood to be Frey's preferred destination.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal pursue Frey and try and push through a deal at the end of the season.
