The veteran custodian's howler is one that will take some time for the Arsenal keeper nicknamed 'Safehands' to live down. Having conceded direct from a corner, Seaman's future has been cast into doubt and Wright is tipped to step back into his shoes.
Wright has had problems in his early Goodison Park career and been out of the international limelight since saving a penalty on his international debut against Malta.
However, Wright credits Seaman as getting him back on track, saying: "I learned an awful lot from Seaman.
"He always had time for me, and working with someone of his standing provided me with invaluable experience.
"To have a year with the England number one has to be good for your career and it definitely stood me in good stead for the challenge I face here.
"I'll always be grateful to him for that."
Toffees manager David Moyes has refused to change his tactics to rub salt into Seaman's wounds.
"We haven't been practising long shots and won't be doing anything different from our usual game.
"The criticism of a good professional has been really harsh and severe this week, and I won't be saying anything to fuel that.
"What I will say, though, is that Richard's name will be mentioned in the England frame in due course. His form over the last few games has been good and when the next England squad is announced, I'm sure he will be under discussion.
"I'm quite pleased that he isn't being linked with the England position at the moment because the spotlight has been on him enough since he arrived.
"I still don't think he has settled in completely, and when you consider his age, there is still much more to come from him.
"When I went to the board about signing him, I told them it would take time for him to get over the disappointment of leaving Arsenal. He had to come to terms with that, and he's getting there."
